Pootlers & Artful Stampers Blog Hop

What a day today is!  A massive welcome to my blog, and an equally massive welcome to today's Pootlers and Artful Stampers Blog Hop!

Today you are in for a treat!  For those of you that don't know what a blog hop is, its where a group of like-minded people get together and blog along the same theme, with a link enabling you to "hop" between the blogs (see below).

My name is Camille, also known by the name Cam's Creativity, and I'm an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator here in the UK.  I'm also part of a wonderful team called the Pootlers, and today we are teaming up with the fabulous Artful Stampers, a sister team over in Australia, to bring you this blog hop (I have to say, I'm feeling rather jealous of your weather Artful Stampers - its a little chilly here in the UK).

Today's theme is Anything Goes, and as I no doubt many of my fellow bloggers will be going with something Christmassy from the Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter catalogue, I've gone for something from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  And here is my creation...

I used the following products in creating this Thank You card.
  • Pop of Paradise stamp set
  • Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape
  • Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper
  • Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad
  • Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Basic Black Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Snail Adhesive
This card is a relatively easy one to make, with the card blank being decorated with a few strips from the Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape, and the background which the flamingo is mounted onto, being a piece from the Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper.

I have to say, I do love a bit of pink, and love how this card has turned out.  Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think, I'd love to hear from you!

Don't forget to visit the other amazing bloggers!

Why did I join Stampin' Up!?

Why did I join Stampin' Up!?  Now that's a question...

I've always been a crafter.  As a child, I was always making things, whether it was something my Nan taught me, such as knitting or sewing, or making candles from one of the many Get Set kits I received as gifts, down to drawing Christmas cards for the school's annual Christmas Card Competition.  I was always crafting in some way or another.

I think it was winning the Christmas Card Competition that set me more down the line of card making, than anything else.  Scrapbooking didn't really interest me.  Yes, there are loads of beautiful 12x12 papers around, but I have always preferred to cut them up and use them as background papers in my cards, or using elements in toppers.

After the birth of my son, some 10 years ago, I heard of a similar company to Stampin' Up!, called PartiCraft, and joined them as a Demonstrator, but for various reasons, the timing just wasn't right.  I kept in touch with one of the PartiCraft ladies, my trainer/upline, and we became good friends.  Moving on a few years, and my trainer/upline had moved on to Stampin' Up!, and this was my introduction to what has become a bit of an addiction for me.

I eventually bit the bullet and joined Stampin' Up! as a hobbyist in 2015, with the dream of eventually making a living out of my hobby, but being pregnant when I joined, that wouldn't be happening any time soon.  I'd forgotten just how much of your time a baby (and now toddler) consumes, so although I don't get to craft as often as I'd like at the moment, I'm still drawn to all of the gorgeous stamps and papers contained in each and every Stampin' Up! catalogue, to the point that I'm running out of space to store it all.

When I do get a chance to craft, its not normally for long, as my little miss is still in my bedroom (where my crafting corner is also located - I cant wait to finally move house), so although I may have all of the best intentions in the world to create many beautiful things, at present I seem to have a growing pile of WIPs (or Work In Progress).  But babies aren't babies for long, and I intend to enjoy every moment of my little miss being at home, being with her and sharing in all of her first's, as I did with my son.  Maybe when we move and she has her own room, or when she starts pre-school, I'll have more time to craft and work on that dream, but for the meantime, its Mummy time.

Thanks for reading xx

Guest Blogger - Fiona Whitehead

Welcome to my blog!  Can you believe its already 31st March?  Where has the time gone?  Can you believe Sale-A-Bration ends today!?!

Today I'd like to introduce a Guest Blogger, Fiona Whitehead, who is a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator here in the UK.

A bit about Fiona:

Fiona lives in a small village in Hampshire near Andover and has been crafting for over 20 years, using Stampin' Up! products for 15, and first used Stampin' Up! when she lived in Texas!  Fiona runs two classes in Andover and Winchester, and also at home.  She has grown up kids but a demanding husband and four pets lol!  You can find more info on Fiona at her blog, Crafty Stamping.

Thanks so much, Fiona, for being todays Guest Blogger.  Take it away..!

PERFECT PAIRINGS/SERENE SILHOUETTES - BORDER SENTIMENT

I've just found this new technique and love it.  Known as Border Sentiment I think its great especially for cards which only want one layer.  I've added the butterfly just because I had it and its lovely but it would be equally nice without an embellishment.

Simple technique - just simply stamp your sentiment and draw a line with a ruler.  Mask this off then with some post it notes or masking paper and stamp away.  Simples!  But effective!  I'm going to enter this into the Less is More challenge which is asking for views outside your window - the weather here in the UK is so lovely today I actually saw a butterfly outside my window.  Shame the rain is supposed to come just in time for Easter :(  you'll find the challenge here

I'm also adding this card into the CASology challenge here where the theme is weather.

I've used the Perfect Pairings for the sentiment and Serene Silhouettes and also some of the little flowers from Birthday Blooms.  The Kindly word has been gone over with a red marker pen and, of course, a Wink of Stella just to finish it off.

All of the products used can be found in the Annual or seasonal Stampin' Up! catalogues, and can be found here.

Please do use the reward code to get free products (reward code shown in the to right of my blog is the current one).  If your order is over £150, please do not use this code as you then qualify for Hostess Rewards.  And remember, during Sale-a-Bration, you get to choose a free product from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue for every £45 you spend!

Or, until 31st March, you can join my team and get even more!  Whether you're looking for a new career, a part time job to earn some extra money, or just want to buy Stampin' Up! products at a discounted price, I'd love to have you on my team.  You can join for just £99, and as well as all of the business stationery needed to get you off to a flying start, you will also get up to £160 of Stampin' Up! products of your choice (returning to £130 as of 1st April).
