Watercolour Easter Chick Card

Happy Monday crafters!  How was your weekend?  Good I hope.  Can you believe its almost Easter?  Where have the past 2 months gone?

In light of the impending holiday, whether you celebrate it for religious reasons, or because you have children, I've created todays Easter Chick Card.

Todays card mostly features a watercolour technique.  I took a blank notecard, and a sheet of Whisper White card, which I cut into panels measuring 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" and 4 1/2" x 3".  Then taking my Hello Honey Stampin' Pad and an Aqua Painter, I applied a wash of colour around the edge of the larger panel.  Leave to dry.  Once dry, using Stampin' Dimensionals, stick in place on the card blank.

Hint:  To do this you can squish the centre of the closed Stampin' Pad slightly, pressing the ink onto the lid, then taking the loaded Aqua Painter, pick up some of the ink from the lid, and apply to the card squeezing the Aqua Painter slightly to release some water.

Then, using the same technique, a Cucumber Crush Stampin' Pad, and a Bermuda Bay Stampin' Pad, I applied a wash to the smaller panel to give the appearance of grass and sky.  Leave to dry.  Once dry, using Snail Adhesive, stick in place on top of the previous panel.

Taking some of the remaining Whisper White Card, and Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad, I stamped out the chick from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set, and the banner from the You're So Lovely stamp set.  Once dry, using the Hello Honey Stampin' Pad and Aqua Painter, I applied a wash of colour to the banner and the chick, adding more colour to the beak and feet, and to imitate shadow.  Finally, taking a Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker, I added the greeting, and highlighted the edges, of the banner, before cutting out both the banner and chick.

Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow), I then applied the chick to the card.  The banner was applied using Stampin' Dimensionals, with a coil of Linen Thread in the sandwich of adhesive.

The flowers were created by scribbling a patch of Hello Honey ink (using the Aqua Painter) and Calypso Coral onto Whisper White card, punching out using the flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  The 3D flower effect was achieved by pressing into the centre of each flower with a Simply Scored Stylus, whilst on a Stampin' Pierce Mat.  These were then applied to the card using Tombow.

Sketch Challenge Mojo436 - Ice Cream and Sprinkles

Its Saturday already!  How did that happen?  The past week seems to have flown by...

Today I'm taking part in this weeks Mojo Sketch Challenge, and as I couldn't decide between Blushing Bride and Pool Party, I made two cards, using both colours.  Which do you prefer?

Unusually for me, these cards were also made in C5 size (a sheet of A4, folded in half), and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out.

My card was decorated with a white panel of card measuring, topped with a coloured panel of card measuring, topped with a sheet of Designer Series Paper (or DSP) measuring.  I then took my 1 1/2" Circle Punch and punched out four circles for each card from a sheet of DSP, and using my 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch, punched out four more circles in the same colour card as the card blank.  These were matted and layered together, before attaching to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Then, on a sheet of Shimmery White card, using a Basic Gray Archival Stampin' Pad, I stamped an ice cream, using Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painters for a watercolour effect.  Once dry, they were cut out, stuck to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals, and matching Honeycomb Embellisments were applied.  The greeting was then stamped onto a piece of white card, measuring 1" x 3 1/2", using Basic Gray ink, and the end was then punched using the Banner Triple Punch, before sticking to the card (behind the scalloped circle) using Snail Adhesive.

Here are the products used:

Hexagon Punch Card

Do you ever look at your craft supplies and have your mind go blank?  Or do you have a mountain of offcuts, scraps or small pieces of paper, slowly taking over your craft space?

Today's card is a great way of tackling those supplies!  All you need (in addition to your blank card, adhesives and greeting stamp) is a Hexagon Punch, two different colours of paper, and coordinating ink.

Punch out a few hexagons, arrange on your card in a similar pattern to the above picture, and stamp a greeting of your choice.  I then went on to stamp a greeting on to the inside of the card, as shown below.

I think a greeting on the inside of the card is a great finishing touch, and the Garden In Bloom stamp set does this really well.

Pop Up Box Card

I'd like to share with you a pop up box card that I created for my dear Nan, who is celebrating her birthday this week.

The great thing about these pop-up cards, is that they fold down flat for posting, and fit into a standard C6 envelope too.  And the card itself can be made from a single sheet of A4 card (the decorations are not included in this).

You start off with a sheet of A4 card, and trim it to 6" x 9".  You then need to score it along the long edge at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8" and 8 1/2", and then at 2 3/4" on the short edge.  Remove the 2 3/4" x 1/2" tab, as this is not needed.  From the remaining card, cut two pieces of card measuring 1 1/8" x 3 1/8", then score 1/2" from each end, folding in opposite directions to create a "Z" shape.

With the removed piece of card as the "top end" of your box, cut along the score lines to the 2 3/4" score line, as shown.  Fold down three tabs, leaving the fourth tab (next to the removed piece) unfolded.  At this point, I rounded off the corners on the tabs, but this is not necessary and is down to personal preference.

Assemble the box, sticking the tab (the piece below the removed piece) to hold together, using either Fast Fuse Adhesive (dry), or Tombow (wet).  Then stick the two "Z" pieces at the top of the box, just beneath the top, to stick the flowers to.

The flowers were stamped using the Flower Shop stamp set, and the greeting and banner from You're So Lovely.  Punch out the flowers, and cut out the banner, before attaching to 1/2" wide strips of Window Sheet using Tear & Tape, trimming to size, and sticking to the box card (again, using Tear & Tape).  The final flower is then attached to the card using a Stampin'' Dimensional foam pad.

Here are the products I used:

Monthly Thank You's and More Sale-A-Bration Products

Happy Sunday, and a Happy Valentine's Day too!

As we don't "do" Valentine's Day in our house (so I've been informed each year), I'll be spending my day with the family, and catching up on my customer thank you cards and gifts.

Each month, to show my appreciation for my customers, I always send out a handmade Thank You card and gift, no matter the size of their order, and this month my customers are receiving one of my 3" creations made using our In Color 2015-2017 range with the Flower Shop stamp set.

As there will be some new limited-time Sale-A-Bration products going live on Tuesday (and these beauties retiring tomorrow), I've also enclosed the new Sale-A-Bration supplement, along with a gift created using the new goodies.

Have you liked my Facebook page, Cam's Creativity?  If not, you might want to do so, as I'm holding a Facebook party Tuesday evening to launch the new Sale-A-Bration goodies.  I'd love it if you could make it!

Here are the products used to create my customer cards:

Sketch Challenge Mojo434 - Monochrome Hang in There Card

Happy Saturday - what better time is there to take part in a sketch challenge!  And today I am taking part in Mojo's sketch challenge, number 434.

After playing with a few different colourways from within my craft stash, I realised I hadn't made a monochrome card - ever!  So here we are, using the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set, is my monochrome "Hang in there" card.

This card could easily be made in another colourway to suit the recipient, but I quite like it in black and white.  Though I am a little tempted to colour in the balloon or ribbon.  What do you think?

A Week of Gift Packaging - Day 5, Tic Tac Book

Welcome to day 5 of my Week of Gift Packaging.

Todays project was created on the request of my 9 year old creation, he wanted me to make something with Tic Tac mints, knowing that he'd get to eat them after the photos had been taken.  He's not daft, my boy!

The packaging for these mints coordinate with Cucumber Crush and Whisper White brilliantly!

All you need to create one of these cases is a piece of cardstock measuring 3" x 4 1/2", a piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 2 3/4" x 1 3/4, a length of ribbon (approximately 12" in length), adhesives, and of course, a pack of mints!

I first scored the card at 2" and 2 1/2", before folding and burnishing.  I then rounded off the corners with the Project Life Corner Punch, and two of the corners on the DSP (as in the photo).  The DSP was then attached to the front of the book using Snail Adhesive.  The greeting came from the Bear Hugs stamp set, and was stamped onto Whisper White card using the Cucumber Crush Classic Stampin' Pad.  Once the ink had dried, the greeting was then punched out using the Word Window Punch, and stuck to the front of the book using Stampin' Dimensionals.  A Blossom Accent was then added to the edge of the greeting, stuck in place with a Mini Glue Dot.

Inside, a length of Tear & Tape Adhesive was then placed across the centre of the book, before sticking the ribbon in place.  The mints were then stuck into the book using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A Week of Gift Packaging - Day 4, Chocolate Slider

Welcome to day 4 of my Week of Gift Packaging.

Todays make, the chocolate slider, is a quickie.  Great for a last minute treat, or for making multiples of, and from a single sheet of 6x6" Designer Series Paper.

Simply score your sheet of DSP on one side at 1", then turn and score the next side at 2 1/2" and 5".  Fold and burnish your score lines, then cut away the excess to look like the image below.  Using a 1/2" Circle Punch, punch holes in the centre of what will be the top of your slider (the easiest way to line them up is to fold the slider as though you are sticking it together, then punch the hole).

Using Fast Fuse Adhesive, stick the slider together with the tabs on the inside.  Then, take a length of ribbon, long enough to contain your chocolate treat and be tied.

Next, thread the ribbon through the holes in your slider, then add your chocolate treat.  Slide your chocolate treat into the slider, and tie the ribbon.  You're done!

A Week of Gift Packaging - Day 3, Tealight Box

Welcome to day 3 of my Week of Gift Packaging.

Sometimes, you just want to give a token gift to someone.  Whether you want to show someone you're thinking of them, or want to say a little thank you, this cute tealight box with belly band is a great way to pretty-up 4 tealight candles!

Made using the Envelope Punch Board, this box is surprisingly quick and easy to make.  You need a piece of card measuring 6 1/4" square, then using the envelope punch board, punch and score at 2 5/8" and 3 5/8", on all four sides.  Then assemble the box using some Tombow (Multipurpose Liquid Glue).  The box is decorated with a square of DSP from the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack and a belly band.

The belly band is made using a strip of card 1" x 8 1/2", wrapped around the closed box before sticking in place with Tombow.  The bow, I made using a sheet of DSP from the Have a Cuppa DSP Stack and the Bow Builder Punch.

A Week of Gift Packaging - Day 2, Chocolate Lolly Case

Welcome to day 2 of my Week of Gift Packaging.

Valentines Day is just 12 days away.  My partner and I don't do Valentines Day (apparently), but I cant resist getting him a little something.  And this year, one of the little something's is a chocolate lolly.  But how do you make it look like more?

Presentation is everything, and I think that this case is so cute, it could be used for any occasion.

All you need is:
  • a piece of A4 Wisteria Wonder card, cut to 4" wide (portrait),
  • another piece measuring 4" x 5",
  • two pieces 1 1/2" x 3"
  • a piece of Whisper White card measuring 3 3/4" x 4 3/4,
  • a coordinating piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" (I used a sheet from the Have A Cuppa DSP Stack)
  • Whisper White satin ribbon

Score your largest piece of Wisteria Wonder along the long side at 3", 3 1/2", and 6", then fold.  Take your two smaller pieces of card, score along the length at 1/2" and 1", then fold.  You need to stick these two pieces of card into the larger piece to create a channel for the lolly stick, as shown below.

Take your corner punch and punch the folded corners at the top.  Also punch all four corners on your remaining card and DSP.  Stick the Wisteria Wonder card to the lolly case, creating a flap that covers the channel for the lolly stick.  Mat and layer with the Wisper White and DSP.

Stick a magnet over the lolly stick channel using glue dots, then cover with a 1/4" card circle (punched from some scrap cardstock) and stick in place with a glue dot.  Then, to make sure you stick in the correct place, place on your second magnet, topped with another glue dot, and close the case to stick.  Open the case and top the second magnet with another circle of card in the same way as the first.  You need to do this as the magnets I use are REALLY strong and could tear your case on opening if you don't.

Then, tie a bow from the ribbon, and stick to the front of the case with glue dots.

You can then add greetings as required.  I stamped a greeting from the Bear Hugs stamp set in Wisteria Wonder ink, onto a sheet of Whisper White card, punched it out with the Word Window punch, and attached it to the bag with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals.
